College Dating?

Date College seems from its advertising to provide an excellent service to a specialized niche market - college students. A large university can make it difficult to meet someone on a personal level, while a small college may be too homogenous in population. Dating in college can be a tricky business for many reasons and a matchmaking service for college students can ease the way.

Unfortunately, Date College does not entirely deliver on its promise. A quick look at the homepage reveals that member ages may range from 18 - 110. A hundred and ten? -:)

While there are certainly more and more non-traditional aged students in modern colleges, it does not appear that Date College requires members to be college students.

This fact brings to mind some disturbing scenarios. The site seems to inadvertently set the stage for unsuspecting young college students to come into contact with older adults whose intentions are less than pure. College students are often considered to be some sort of sexual ideal and it is worrisome that the site does not take steps to minimize possible risk.

These concerns coupled with the site's limited functionality make Date College a web service best avoided. College students over age 18 could join more mainstream dating sites with better features and less inherent risk.
