This tip comes to me from more than one straight male friend. I have been told that gay bars are one of the best venues to meet women. Although the idea seems counterintuitive, the reasoning behind it is actually fairly sound.

Many women list one or more gay men among their best friends. The reasons for this are many and varied, but suffice it to say that straight woman-gay man friendships are extremely common.

As with any good friend, women want to accommodate their gay friends. This means sometimes accompanying them to a gay bar. Women have the complete ability to spend an evening in a bar without trying to pick anyone up. Also, they say that they are flattered rather than threatened by the women who may try to pick them up.

Women also feel fairly comfortable in gay bars, since the expectation is that the men there will be gay. It is sometimes difficult for women to spend time in bars, as there is usually an unending stream of men trying to pick them up. Therefore, at a gay bar, a woman’s guard tends to be lower.

It takes a special breed of straight man to visit a gay bar. The man must be both liberal enough and comfortable enough in his own sexuality to accompany his gay friends into a gay bar. For men who are comfortable with the environment, they have a reasonable chance of meeting straight women.

Whether or not this meeting will actually turn into a connection is questionable. However, it cannot be denied that the initial meeting will happen. If you are a straight guy looking to meet girls, try out the local gay bar and see what happens. You have nothing to lose.
