Geek Dating
Geek 2 Geek exists to fulfill a very specific niche market - geeks and those who love them. While at one time the term 'geek' was thought of as derogatory and in some circles is still used as such, geeks have gained popularity in recent years and are now generally recognized as just another subculture.
Although exact definitions vary, a geek is generally someone who pursues interests that are considered too intellectual or obscure for the mainstream. Examples include role-playing games, chess, Monty Python, and many others.
It is often presumed, and the presumption is made by Geek 2 Geek, that geeks make superior lovers and spouses for a variety of reasons, chief among them that geeks generally do not get many dates. This may or may not be the case, but it is true that geeks often prefer to date other geeks. It is with this niche market in mind that Geek 2 Geek was born.
While new Geek 2 Geek members must complete a personal profile as is true with any dating site, the profile questions on Geek 2 Geek are definitely geared specifically toward geeks. Questions are asked about the member’s interest in physics, roleplaying games in general, Dungeons and Dragons specifically, and many other geek-niche topics.
It is nice for self-identified geeks to be provided a community in which to meet like-minded others. Many geeks are uncomfortable seeking companionship outside the geek community, and most dating sites tend to lump all geeks together. However, geekiness is individualized and personal, and the profile questionnaire does a nice job of identifying common geek traits and allowing members to indicate which traits they possess.
Geek 2 Geek serves a specific niche market and is good at what it does. Although free membership is limited, paid memberships are quite reasonably priced. The site strives to provide a sense of community and a safe place for those who identify as geeks to meet others with similar interests and ideals.
