They're Committed to the Non-Committable

Ah, Ashley Madison. I remember hearing about this site on the news last year. It was pretty new and I couldn't believe what I was hearing. While 99.9% of other online dating sites were promoting love, fidelity, and monogamy, Ashley Madison was catering to romantic affairs.

First, I'd like to say that I don't believe that this is an online dating site, while others may beg to differ. According to the site, it has over one million sign ups. Nevertheless, some of the slogans on the site are ridiculous, such as: "people who are inclined to have affairs are usually better looking than average".

The site is filled with preposterous articles that satirize monogamy - one article even goes so far to mention the Rev. Jesse Jackson's illegitimate child. Why? I have no idea. If Jesses Jackson had an affair, than everyone must be doing it! (deep sarcasm).

The site claims that  "adultery is a favorite human topic, in more ways than one". While the taboo may be appealing to some, how far are you willing to go to step on the grass that looks greener?

Now let's be blunt - the site claims that it's completely confidential. Sure, that may be true. However, our home computers can reveal a lot. If you don't delete your cache and cookies, Ashley Madison isn't held accountable for your infidelities, you are, and you'll probably get busted.

Is that a chance that you're willing to take? If so, sign up and find another person that has commitment issues. If not, then ask yourself why you're doing it. Instead of paying a membership fee to Ashley Madison, send a check to a marriage counselor.
